What To Expect From The Xiaomi Ecosystem Product Launch event on July 15th!

Xiaomi is hosting a global Ecosystem Product Launch 2020 event on July 15, as a part of which, the company is expected to unveil the anticipated Mi TV Stick. The event, which will be streamed live across Xiaomi’s social media channels, may also bring the global launch of the Mi Smart Band 5, Mi Electric Scooter, and the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, among other devices. Xiaomi isn’t likely to consider launching a new phone at its ecosystem-focussed event next week. However, the company is speculated to bring the Redmi 9 as its new affordable smartphone to worldwide markets in the coming days.

The Xiaomi Twitter account on Friday announced the global Ecosystem Product Launch 2020. The launch event is taking place on Wednesday, July 15. It will begin at 8pm GMT+8 (5:30pm IST) and will be hosted via the Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, and Mi Community accounts of the company.

The Alleged Specs And Prices For The Xiaomi Mi TV Stick

Leaked specs of the Mi TV Stick reveal a device that would most likely replace the existing Android-powered Mi Box S. According to our sources, the Mi TV Stick will come in two variants: one with 1080p FHD resolution and 1GB RAM and another with 4K resolution and 2GB RAM. Both models are expected to have 8GB of internal storage. Both are also said to run Android TV 9.0 and feature support for the Google Assistant. The leak also suggest that the Mi TV Stick will be accompanied by a Bluetooth remote with dedicated buttons for the Google Assistant, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.

According to our sources, the Mi TV Stick will cost ₹ 3,700 for the 1 GB FHD model and ₹ 10,140 for the 2GB 4k variant. We assume the availability date of the Mi TV Stick July 31.

If these prices are accurate, the 4K Mi TV Stick model is almost two times the price of the Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K.

However, it’s more than possible that it is showing a marked-up price for an imported Mi TV Stick 4K unit or a placeholder price, so don’t take it to heart just yet.

Mi Smart Band 5 Specs And Prices

The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 – or Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 as it looks to be called outside China – is the successor to the Mi Smart Band 4, a cheap fitness tracker from mid-2019 that impressed us with a range of features that you definitely can’t guarantee will be available on other trackers with a low price tag. The Mi Smart Band 5 is expected to start it’s sale by the end of July-20 with a price tag of around Rs 2,100.

The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 has a similar design to the Xiaomi Mi Band 4, with an oblong-shaped tracker set into a colorful strap.

The body is 47.2 x 18.5 x 12.4mm and either 11.9g for the standard model or 12.1g for the version with NFC (though it’s not yet confirmed whether both of these will make it out of China).

The strap meanwhile is available in a range of colors, including some dual-color options and ones that match certain branded animated watch faces that you can access, such as ones for SpongeBob SquarePants, Neon Genesis Evangelion, and more.

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 has a 125mAh battery which Xiaomi claims can last for up to 14 days between charges.

The Mi Smart Band 5 has an apparently faster chipset than its predecessor, along with NFC (in some models), Bluetooth 5.0, 16MB of storage, and 512KB of RAM. There’s also a barometer (for gauging atmospheric pressure).

The Smart Band is water-resistant to depths of 50 meters (so you can take it swimming), it has 11 sport-tracking modes (such as running, cycling, yoga and pool swimming), and it has a heart rate monitor, that can keep tabs on your heart rate 24 hours a day. It also has sleep tracking, and unlike its predecessor it can track how long you spend in REM sleep.

Moving away from fitness, contact less payments are supported by the model with NFC (though we’re not sure if this will make it out of China, as it didn’t with the Mi Band 4).

There’s also the ability to link the Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 to your phone, so you’ll get notification alerts on your wrist. You can also use the Mi Band 5 as a remote camera shutter for your smartphone.

Xiaomi Mi Scooters: Leaked details And Pictures

Called the Mi Scooter 1S and Mi Scooter Pro 2, the scooters will have ranges of 30 km and 45 km, respectively. The Mi Scooter 1S will be the cheaper of the two models and we expect this to be launched in India.

The Mi Electric Scooter 1s sports a 500W DC brushless motor and 8.5-inch shock-absorbing tires. The scooter can achieve a top speed of 25 kmph. If launched in India, it is expected to be priced below Rs 25,000.

Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic

Xiaomi will launch a new true wireless audio product, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic, on July 15. The new earphones have been teased by the company on its social media channels, and going by the naming conventions and design in the teaser, the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 Basic could be an affordable variant of the recently launched Mi True Wireless Earphones 2.

The earphones appear to be similar to the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 in design, but with a smaller charging case. The earphones do not drop vertically into the case this time. Instead they lay horizontally into the case while charging. Xiaomi launched Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 in India earlier this year at INR 4,499. The earphones could go on playing music for 14 long hours with an hour long charge.

As for how the new earphones might be more affordable than the True Wireless Earphones, it’s likely that the company will cut corners on battery life. It’s also possible that Xiaomi opts to go with a microUSB port instead of a USB-C port – similar to how they approached the Redmi Earbuds S.

Obviously, as of right now, all of these things are purely speculative. The company hasn’t given anything away about the earphones. We have to wait till 15th July to witness it ourselves.
